Spotlight on: Boogs

14 November, 2016

Boogs is one of the true leaders of Melbourne’s underground club scene.

Supremely talented, original and never reliant on trends, fads or visiting international DJs, his 7amresidency at Revolver Sundays is one of the most celebrated, unique and infamous gigs in town. His three-hour sets attract a vibrant, loyal and seriously up-for-it crowd each and every week.

We caught up with the Melbourne legend ahead of his headline set in the cave on Saturday night, as part of XL November.

You’re known for renowned for some seriously epic early-morning sets in Melbourne’s Revolver, as well as being a stand-out part of that scene for years. In your opinion, what makes that early morning set so special?

The venue is one of the things that makes that set really special to me.  From the first time I played there Revolver has always been like my bedroom.  For me there is no where else like it,  I've been playing Sunday mornings for more than 15 years and I still love walking in there every week.

What’s the craziest thing you’ve witnessed or experienced during your years on the scene?

There are too many things to pick a craziest one especially if I have to keep it clean, the time I accidentally set myself on fire during my set comes to mind….

What kind of vibe will you bring to your headline slot at Chinese Laundry?

RobotSoul for cavemen.

Think - Soulphiction, Hanne & Lore, No Regular Play, Kill Frenzy, Paranoid London and other stiff liquid.

Catch Boogs at LNDRY this Saturday night.
